The Faculty of Science's Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) has a wide range of fieldwork equipment for research both on land and at sea. This includes multi-parameter sensors and spectroradiometers.

Loaning Audio-Visual Equipment

Audio-visual Services can provide laptops and individual audio-visual equipment for rooms in the UvA that are not fitted with an AV installation. The equipment can be borrowed free of charge, but only by members of UvA staff.

Laptops and audio-visual equipment can be borrowed free of charge.

Scan Tent

The Library offers tools that researchers can use in their research, including the ScanTent. Using the ScanTent, you take high-quality images with your mobile phone of both loose and bound material up to A3 size.

The Scan Tent can be used and borrowed free of charge.

Technology Centre

The Technology Centre supports the Faculty of Science research groups by addressing technical issues. The Technology Centre also develops scientific instruments and gives advice about buying equipment or the technical aspects of experimental set-ups in the field of construction, glass instruments, electronics or software. All institutes may apply to a project leader and technicians in a specialised field.

Loaning Laptops, Camcorders and Peripheral Equipment (Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences)

The TOP department carries a stock of ambulant equipment that can be loaned out for the data acquisition phase of experiments. This includes camcorders, research laptops and limited numbers of more specialist (peripheral) equipment (control boxes, head rests, decibel meter, lux meter etc.)

Costs
Staff will not be charged for borrowing this equipment.

Virtual Machine (Faculty of Science)

In situations where a physical server is too expensive, you can use a virtual server instead. The Faculty Expert IT Support Group (FEIOG) can set up and maintain these virtual machines. Both Linux (CentOS-6) and Windows (Server 2012) are possible. 

Costs
Costs depend on the capacity of the virtual machine, and vary between € 6 and € 80 per month.
