Finding Academic Sources

This hands-on workshop on searching for relevant sources on the internet and in the library teaches you to:

  • select the right search tool;
  • search for specific publications;
  • search for publications about a subject;
  • determine a publication's level of authority.

Target group
All students starting a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, new PhD candidates and anyone who wants to polish their information skills. This workshop is given in English, unless all participants prefer Dutch. Minimum of 7 participants, maximum of 16.

The workshop is free of charge.

Help with Research (Faculty of Humanities)

This hands-on workshop teaches you to:

  • focus swiftly on your subject;
  • use the right search commands for your research question;
  • make optimum use of search systems and databases for your research;
  • obtain primary and secondary literature (including online), even if it is not available in our library;
  • evaluate your results and store them safely.

‘Help with research in the Humanities' is taught by information specialists from the Humanities field. They are keen to use their specific and more general knowledge of the library to help you with your research.

The workshop is given in English, unless all participants prefer Dutch. Minimum of 5 participants, maximum of 13.

This workshop is aimed at students of the Humanities who are about to start their Bachelor's or Master's thesis, new PhD candidates and anyone who wants to polish their information skills.

Update Your Research Skills (Law Library)

What new databases and digital journal and book collections has the Law Library lately added to its collection? How do you draw attention to the contents of a journal or results of a search in a database? What does CatalogusPlus actually enable you to find? How can using smart search commands speed up your search for relevant documents? Which law journals publish in open access at no extra cost? What's the best way to post a link to a book or journal on Blackboard for other students? This workshop is an opportunity to polish your research skills.

Target group
The workshop is intended for Faculty staff. The workshop is given in Dutch and lasts two hours.
