"If I publish my book in open access, it won’t sell", is a commonly heard complaint among authors. In reality, the contrary appears to be true. Many publishers have discovered that publishing in open access actually stimulates sales. People use the internet to discover books, not read them. If a book is available throughout the world, it can be seen by any potential reader, which makes them more willing to buy a copy. Visibility is essential.
