Storing Data in Research Drive

Research Drive is a secure, shared storage environment developed especially for research data. During your research, it allows you to use data sources on a variety of storage platforms in a single, clearly structured environment and cooperate with national and international colleagues and partners in a simple and effective way. Research Drive is developed by SURF.

Purchasing a Server (Faculty of Science)

Faculty of Science researchers who want to place a server in the faculty server room can apply to the Faculty Expert IT Support Group (FEIOG) for the purchase, configuration and management of their server.

Costs

€1,100 per rack unit per year, plus the purchase price of the server.

Storage Space (Faculty of Science)

Do you need storage space for your research data? Faculty of Science research groups that need storage space (min. 1 TB, max. 100TB), can make use of the Faculty network drive. Data stored here are automatically replicated on a second server, which serves as a back-up. It is also possible to bypass this back-up option. The storage space can be divided into directories per user. You can also make daily snapshots in order to retrieve overwritten or deleted data.

Costs

An invoice for this storage space is sent once a year (in July/August). Storage space costs €120 per TB per year.

Storing Your Data in UvA/HvA figshare

UvA/HvA figshare is a safe and accessible location for storing research data. If you use UvA/HvA figshare, your files will be stored on ISO-certified servers in Switzerland and will be accessible to you from any computer with an internet connection.

Costs

As yet, you will not be charged for using UvA/HvA figshare.
