You invest heavily in your research data, so they are a valuable asset. That is why it is important to store research data safely. But what's the best way to do this? And how do you ensure that you and other people will be able to find and use your research data in the future? This will be the subject of this workshop.
The main theme of the workshop is drawing up a data management plan (DMP): a digital document describing which data you collected during your research project, how you stored and managed the data during the project, and what happened to the data afterwards.
Setting up and maintaining a DMP minimises the risk of nasty surprises during your research. It also saves time, effort and money. In addition, increasingly more research funders require a data management plan as part of the funding application.

RDM Support provides a workshop teaching the basic skills needed for the secure encryption (encoding) of research data. This is a practical course, which teaches you about the encryption software available at the UvA. We discuss in which cases encryption is a practical option and what you need to take into account. There is time to practise using encryption software and if required, to practise with software for managing passwords too.
Target group
This workshop is aimed at researchers from all fields. The workshop is given in Dutch or English and lasts 2 hours.
